Biointensive agriculture is a system of food production with the goal of maximum yields in the smallest area of land possible. Additionally, biodiversity must increase, and soil health must be improved. The idea is to achieve true sustainability, in a closed system, observing the laws of nature.
Although we’re in the tropics, most of the rules and systems of Biointensive Gardening will apply anywhere, such as growing and nurturing healthy soil, using mulch and compost effectively, how to build a keyhole-style garden that uses maximum space for growing and as little as possible for walking.
Biointensive gardening draws upon ancient systems of agriculture and serves as a radical alternative to the inefficient mono-culture style food systems we rely on today.
We will combine lessons with practical hands-on experience, so you may implement similar styles in your own gardens or farms back home.
